What is quality lead?
In B2B sales, a quality lead is more than just contact information. It is a prospect whose company size, industry, job title, and observed behavior all signal a strong fit with the product you sell. Quality leads typically come from inbound channels (content downloads, demo requests) or are surfaced via outbound prospecting tools that filter contacts against ICP criteria. Sales teams measure lead quality through downstream metrics — MQL-to-SQL conversion rate, opportunity-to-close rate, and average deal size by source. The opposite of a quality lead is a "junk lead" or "tire-kicker" — someone who matches surface criteria but lacks budget, authority, need, or timing (the BANT framework).
