What is sales volume?
Sales volume is one of the foundational top-of-funnel metrics in any commercial organization. Tracking volume separately from revenue exposes pricing trends — a rising volume with flat revenue means average deal size is shrinking, while flat volume with rising revenue means each deal is getting bigger. Sales leaders track volume by product line, region, rep, and time period to spot capacity issues, pricing leakage, or shifts in customer mix. In B2B SaaS the unit is usually "deals closed" or "logos won," whereas in physical goods it is literal units shipped.
Examples
- →Q3 sales volume: 142 new logos closed across the company
- →Volume per rep this month: SDR Alice closed 9 deals; SDR Bob closed 14
- →Volume by region: NA 220 units, EMEA 95 units, APAC 60 units
